More than 20 of our colleagues will be participating in a Big Sleep Out challenge this month to increase awareness of homelessness and raise money for local charity, Newark Emmaus Trust.
Taking place on 26 August, this is the first Big Sleep Out challenge for Digital Space and will see our people give up their cosy beds for one night and dust off their sleeping bags, to sleep outdoors in our Newark car park. The aim of the Sleep Out is to highlight the reality of what being homeless is like for a lot of young people.
Each of the 20 colleagues participating in the challenge will be raising money for local homelessness charity, Newark Emmaus Trust and Digital Space has promised to match every penny raised. What’s more, Wrigleprint, our clothing supplier, will be donating £7 for every hoody brought as part of the challenge.
About Newark Emmaus Trust
Newark Emmaus Trust provides accommodation, support and training for homeless young people aged between 16 and 25, including pregnant teenagers, young parents and their babies.
All accommodation is provided in Newark and includes shared houses for young people, self-contained flats and houses for parents and their babies or family units. All the accommodation is fully-furnished and ready to occupy.
Nicola Burley, Chief Executive Officer of the Newark Emmaus Trust said: ‘If it were not for organisations like Digital Space, we would be unable to provide the comprehensive support that we do for our residents. Life at the Trust is richer because of the generosity of the team at Digital Space as well as their families and friends – and we thank them wholeheartedly.
“Every day in some way, we all have a lot for which we need to be grateful and at the Newark Emmaus Trust, we are no different. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our friends for their magnanimous gesture of sleeping-out overnight in their car park… all for our benefit. Life at the Trust would be very different if it was not for the incredibly generous support of our friends.”
