There has not necessarily been a single contributing factor but the biggest causes for this shortage have been:

• The Coronavirus global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns preventing the manufacturing of chips.
• Trade war between China & USA causing large organisations to snap up existing stock.
• Environmental factors in areas such as Taiwan reducing manufacturing capacity.

If you require a new router or replacement, there is a risk that we will be unable to procure enough edge devices to meet your requirements as there could be delays to delivery.

This will particularly affect customers with the below ADSL and FTTC devices:

• DrayTek
  • Vigor 130 - EoL replaced by 166
  • Vigor 166 – No stock until October
  • 2865 Base Model – not Available, LAC variant available in limited quantities
• Technicolor
  • DGA4231 – EoL
  • DGA0122 – Limited supply until September
• Zyxel
  • VMG1312-T20B – Limited Stock
  • VMG8623 – No stock

FortiNet, Cisco and Meraki devices may also be affected.

We are currently working with our distribution partners to source alternative devices for customers, to ideally reduce any impact to operations and we are undergoing daily checks of available stock in both channel and warehouse.

Our account managers will also work in close partnership with each of our customers to recommend alternative solutions based on their business requirements.
